Bio
Whitney Williams enters her seventh season as Head Volleyball Coach at Everett Community College after taking over the program in January 2020. Since her arrival, Williams has transformed Trojan Volleyball into one of the fastest-rising programs in the NWAC, rebuilding the culture, elevating competitive expectations, and establishing Everett as a respected contender in the North Region.
Williams inherited a program searching for a new identity and immediately implemented a vision centered on discipline, accountability, player development, academic excellence, and a championship culture. Despite navigating the challenges of the abbreviated COVID-19 season in 2021, she steadily rebuilt the program from the ground up.
The breakthrough came in 2022 when Williams guided the Trojans to a Top 10 NWAC ranking, a tie for third place in the North Region, and the program's first NWAC Championship playoff appearance since 2014. Everett finished the season ranked among the top 12 teams in the conference, with four student-athletes earning North Region All-Star honors. Williams was recognized for the remarkable turnaround by being named the NWAC North Region Coach of the Year.
The program has continued its upward trajectory under her leadership. Over the past six seasons, Everett has consistently increased its competitiveness while developing student-athletes who continue their academic and volleyball careers at four-year colleges and universities. Her teams have become known for their relentless defensive play, aggressive serving, disciplined work ethic, and team-first mentality. Williams has also strengthened recruiting relationships throughout Washington and the Pacific Northwest, creating a culture that attracts student-athletes committed to excellence both on and off the court.
In 2024, Williams became the winningest volleyball coach in Everett Community College history, surpassing the program's previous record and further cementing her impact on Trojan Volleyball. Her leadership has transformed Everett into a destination program built on competitive excellence, personal growth, and lasting relationships.
Before arriving at Everett, Williams spent six seasons as head coach at Arlington High School, where she orchestrated one of the most successful eras in school history. She led the Eagles to three Wesco Championships, a District Championship in 2016, and the program's first state tournament appearance in more than 20 years. Her 2019 team completed an undefeated 14-0 regular season and earned the first state trophy in program history with a sixth-place finish. Williams was honored as the 2019 Wesco Coach of the Year and The Everett Herald All-Area Coach of the Year.
Prior to Arlington, Williams served as an assistant coach at Timpview High School in Provo, Utah, from 2010–2013, helping lead the program to two state championships and one state runner-up finish. She also began her coaching career as an intern with the women's volleyball program at Brigham Young University, where she gained valuable experience while completing her undergraduate studies.
A native of Arlington, Washington, Williams was a standout volleyball player at Arlington High School before earning her bachelor's degree in Exercise Science from Brigham Young University in 2010. She also completed minors in Business, Coaching, and Physical Education Teaching.
Known for her passion, energy, and authentic leadership, Williams has built her coaching philosophy around developing the whole student-athlete. She is committed to creating a culture where discipline, accountability, resilience, and selflessness are daily expectations, preparing her players for success in volleyball, academics, and life beyond Everett Community College. Her vision continues to drive Trojan Volleyball toward sustained excellence while setting a championship standard for future generations of student-athletes.
