Bio
Charnel Austin joined the Trojan staff summer of 2019 after moving to the area from Florida. Coach Char is a 2014 graduated student-athlete from the University of Mount Olive in North Carolina where she played all four years NCAA DII Indoor Volleyball as a Setter/DS/L. Her sophomore year she broke a record for kill assists in a 3 set match, was first in conference for service aces during the month of October and received coaches award at the end of the season.
Before College, she went to Ramstein American High School - Air Force Base in Germany where she made the Varsity Volleyball team her freshman year where she received "Most Valuable Player and Athlete of the Year” in her senior year. In her off-season she would play for an international volleyball club called Steinwenden Volleyball Club (SVC), until her senior year where she received a full-ride volleyball scholarship to play at the University of Mount Olive.
Coach Char’s focus this year at EVCC is to work with the setters and to help them improve with each practice session. She uses Gold Medal Squared setting techniques and her experience playing in college as a tool for her training sessions. Her motto is, “with hard work and strong dedication you can become better at anything in life.”
