The Everett Community College men's and women's cross-country teams took on their first full-distance races of the season at the PLU Invitational on Saturday, with the women stepping up to the 6k and the men to the 8k. Against a strong field of NCAA Division II and III programs, the Trojans showed competitive depth and gained valuable experience on the longer courses.
Women's 6k Recap
The Everett women placed 11th overall in the team standings, led by freshman Lily Rock, who crossed as the Trojans' top finisher in 25:04, 50th place, among 136 competitors. Close behind was Reda Long in 25:31 (60th), giving Everett a solid 1-2 punch up front.
Rounding out the scoring five were Teagan Pentz (26:15, 90th), Taya Kilgore (27:04, 98th), and freshman Halle McClain (27:43, 109th). Depth came from Heidi McKinley (28:25), Amelia Koon (28:47), and Ariel Rodriguez-Garcia (29:12) in supporting roles.
With all seven scorers finishing under 30 minutes, Everett posted a team total of 2:11:39 (26:19 average)—a strong first benchmark at the longer distance.

The Trojan men placed 10th as a team (253 points), with freshman Kenenisa Udo leading the way once again in a strong debut over 8k, finishing 26:36 (25th place).
Behind him, Hector Mendoza clocked 28:46 (88th), followed by Charlie Roberts (29:30, 110th), Isaac Pratt (30:09, 122nd), and William Pyeatt (30:21, 126th) to round out the scoring five. Supporting finishes came from Luke Taylor (30:29), Zayne Cola (30:53), Jacob Doughty (32:04), Cade Hink (35:43), and Nikolas Rice (37:06).
Everett posted a team total of 2:25:22 (29:04 average), edging NWAC rival Clark College and closing in on several four-year schools in the standings.
The Trojans will have a couple weeks to prepare for their next race, which will be the largest race of the year in terms of total competitors, at the Charles Bowles Invite, hosted by Willamette University in Salem, OR. Last season both the men's and women's races had over 200 athletes from over 20 different colleges ranging from NCAA DI to the CC level.
