The Everett Trojans men's and women's track & field teams turned in a strong all-around performance this past weekend at the Peyton Shotwell Invitational hosted by the University of Puget Sound. The meet was highlighted by multiple personal bests, key top-10 finishes, and continued development across sprints, distance, relays, and field events.
Women's Recap
Sprints
Freshman Sophia Michalopoulos led Everett in the 200 meters with a 26.73 (PB), while Kassandra Simms added a 27.96 (PB).
In the 100 meters, Katie Thompson clocked a 15.23, and later added a 32.62 (PB) in the 200.
Middle Distance & Distance
The 800 meters saw a strong showing from Everett:
- Teagan Pentz – 2:33.02 (SB)
- Lily Rock – 2:34.40 (SB)
In the 1500 meters, multiple Trojans set personal bests:
- Heidi McKinley – 5:27.56 (PB)
- Amelia Koon – 5:45.25 (PB)
- Ariel Rodriguez-Garcia – 6:06.39 (PB)
400m & Hurdles
Freshman Kamarrie Spencer ran a 1:06.83 (PB) in the 400 meters.
In the hurdles, Madeline Dang represented Everett in the 100m hurdles with a 16.97.
Men's Recap
Sprints & Relays
Freshman Darrich Sitthivong led Everett in the 200 meters with a personal-best 23.74, while teammates Rieal Villamena (24.28) and Anthoney Ray-Kirk (24.85 SB) added solid performances.
In the 400 meters, freshman Alexander Rabena paced the Trojans with a 50.56, followed by Zayne Cola (53.79 PB), Ray-Kirk (55.15 SB), and Jacob Doughty (55.48 SB).
The 4x100 relay team of Ray-Kirk, Rabena, Sitthivong, and Villamena clocked a 45.07, while the 4x400 "A" squad posted a competitive 3:34.45.
Distance
Freshman Kenenisa Udo led Everett in the 800 meters with a strong 2:03.38 (PB), with Hector Mendoza also notching a personal best (2:05.40).
In the 1500 meters, Luke Taylor ran a 4:13.43 (PB) to lead the Trojans, followed by William Pyeatt (4:20.72 PB) and Charlie Roberts (4:30.08 PB), highlighting a productive day for the distance group.
Field Events
Everett throwers made a significant impact:
- Ilya Grabovsky recorded personal bests in both shot put (12.05m) and discus (40.53m)
- Avery Brennan added a discus PB of 39.84m
- Jacob Huntley contributed a 35.23m PB in discus
- Cody Luangrath (11.93m) and Cyrus Broers (11.57m) added depth in shot put
In the jumps, Darrich Sitthivong posted a long jump PB of 5.68m, while Romero Lago (5.39m PB) and Rieal Villamena (5.15m PB) added additional improvements.
In the pole vault, sophomore Justice Funston cleared 4.35m for a personal best and a 2nd-place finish—one of the top performances of the day for Everett.
Other Highlights
- Gus Westendorf competed in the 400m hurdles (1:07.25 PB)
- Gus Hanson added a 34.39m mark in the javelin
