2023-2024 Female Athlete of the Year & Women's Track & Field Athlete of the Year. Dual sport athlete and Canadian national, Denna Gibb excelled on the volleyball court as a defensive specialist and was 3rd on the team in service aces.  Bust she found another calling in track and field when last year she threw the javelin an impressive 123’4” at the NWAC Championships after having only thrown the javelin in two previous meets.  Her PR of over seven feet helped her to place 4th overall when she entered the meet with the 8th best mark.  In 2024, Denna set a new PR by throwing 132’ 11” at the Pacific Open, placing 2nd overall at the meet and moving herself up to 2nd all time at Everett Community College.  She was the NWAC athlete of the week in the opening week of the track season, but her best performance of the year came at the NWAC Championships this year.  Denna set the tone with her first throw, taking the lead over the entire field by six feet.  She had the event won after her 4th mark, but on her final throw Denna reached 137’ 3”, a PR by over four feet, and less than an inch from breaking the all time EvCC record.   She is a new member of Theta Chi Alpha and is a five time academic honor roll student, with three quarters on the Dean’s List and two quarters on the president’s list with a 4.0 GPA.  Denna is graduating with high distinction and is still considering options for where she will continue her education and compete in track and field next season.
