Trojans Shine Offensively, Sweep Pierce

The Trojans opened NWAC play in impressive fashion, sweeping Pierce College in a four game series. After taking two games in Saturday's road doubleheader, Everett returned home Sunday to take both games and secure the series victory behind dominant pitching, explosive offense, and balanced production up and down the lineup. The Trojans outscored 37-9 over the four games and showcased plenty of offense with 48 hits including home runs by Davis Downer and Lucas Coma.

Game 1 at Pierce

Everett 5, Pierce 0

Everett set the tone for the weekend with a shutout, the second of the 2025 season. The Trojans scored early and added insurance late while the pitching staff silenced Pierce's bats.

Cheha's first-inning two-run double gave Everett an early cushion, and Dempsey's RBI single and Zenk's sacrifice fly in the ninth sealed it.

On the Mound

• Jabari Simon: 4.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 5 K

• Luke Morris: 2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 2 K

The trio combined for a 3-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts.

Game 2 at Pierce

Everett 12, Pierce 4

The Trojans' offense erupted in the nightcap, pounding out 16 hits and scoring in three separate multi-run innings.

• Limited Pierce to 4 hits

After trailing 3-0 early, Everett responded with a five-run third inning and never looked back.

Coma's three-run triple flipped the momentum in the third, while Christopherson's five-RBI performance fueled a five-run sixth.

Despite issuing 10 walks as a staff, Everett limited Pierce to just four hits.

Game 3 at Home

Everett 9, Pierce 2

Back at home, Everett struck early with eight runs in the first two innings and cruised to another convincing win. Lucas Coma hit his first career home run, putting Everett up 4-0, to which Pierce could not recover.

Coma's three-run homer in the first ignited a four-run frame, and Downer continued his torrid weekend with four RBI.

• Bullpen combined for 4 IP, 1 ER

Wickstrom was dominant, allowing just one hit while striking out eight.

Game 4 at Home

Everett 11, Pierce 3

The Trojans capped the series with their most complete offensive performance, tallying 17 hits.

A six-run sixth inning blew the game open and secured the series.

Everett showcased depth, timely hitting, and bullpen strength throughout the weekend. Taking three of four to open league play builds momentum as the Trojans continue to find their rhythm offensively while the pitching staff continues to settle in and build confidence. 

EvCC will host Columbia Basin next weekend in a 4-game home series with doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.  The Hawks have opened the season 5-5 including a sweep over Chemeketa and and big 13-3 win over a strong Blue Mountain team.  First pitch on Saturday is scheduled for 3:30pm.
