Trojan volleyball traveled to Mt. Vernon on Friday to take on the Cardinals of Skagit Valley College. Despite solid performances from freshman Eseta Samita and sophomore transfer Sydney Eli, the Trojans dropped the North Region match 3-0.
The Cardinals controlled all three sets, stringing together a 6 point run in the first set and another 4 point run in the first set to seal the 25-15 win. Then in the 2nd SVC jumped out to an 8-0 run, and while the Trojans were able to battle back to within two points at 9-11, Skagit Valley worked another 6 point run to finish 19-25. The third and final set showed more fight from the Trojans with a tied set at 16, but once again the Cardinals used a run of 5 straight points to break the Everett momentum and sealed the set and match with a 21-25 win.
Trojans will look to capture their first North Region win versus top ranked rivals Edmonds Community College. Match is scheduled for 7:00 pm at the Seaview Gym in Lynwood, WA.
