Everett, WA - Everett Community College Athletic Director, Garet Studer has announced the hiring of Michael Duncan to lead the next era in Trojan women's soccer.
Coach Duncan has over 30 years of experience coaching at the youth, high school, club, and college levels, most recently serving as the Director of Coaching and Player Development for the highly successful Northshore Youth Soccer Association. There, he has spent two decades leading long-term player and coach development initiatives, establishing growth pathways, and building teams grounded in respect, discipline, and community.
As a club coach, Michael has won three State Cup Championships and two State League Championships, along with multiple quarterfinal and finalist appearances. Most recently, he led Sound FC G16A to the 2025 State Cup title. Michael has also served as a state staff instructor for Washington Youth Soccer and has coached in both the Elite Player Development program and the Region IV Olympic Development Program.
"We're incredibly fortunate to have someone of Michael's caliber leading the next chapter of EvCC Women's Soccer, said Studer. Michael has spent years developing players and coaches, and his approach to teaching the game, as well as his connections across Snohomish and King County, is exactly what we were looking for. We are beyond excited to see what the coming seasons bring for Trojan Soccer."
At the high school level, Michael led the Juanita Varsity Boys to consecutive KingCo playoff appearances and guided the Lake Washington High School teams to multiple successes, including a KingCo Championship and State Quarterfinals for the Varsity Girls, along with three consecutive KingCo playoff appearances for the Varsity Boys.
Duncan's college coaching experience includes nine seasons as a volunteer assistant men's coach at Whitman College, where he contributed to the program's success and supported player recruitment. He also brings NWAC experience, having spent three seasons as the women's assistant coach at Bellevue College and two seasons as a player at Edmonds Community College.
"I'm honored to join Everett Community College and lead Trojan Women's Soccer into its next chapter. My focus will be on developing each player to reach her full potential, building a culture of teamwork and respect, and helping this program compete at the highest level in the NWAC. I'm excited to get to work and continue the tradition of excellence here at EvCC."
In addition to his coaching experience, Michael holds a National "A" License from the U.S. Soccer Federation and teaches US Soccer Grassroots courses to emerging coaches. He also earned the United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma.
Michael Duncan takes over for former head coach Nicole Nsa, who took over the program during a difficult time in the midst of COVID and led the program for five seasons. In three of the past five seasons, the Trojans finished 4th in the region, narrowly missing qualification for the NWAC playoffs in those seasons.
Coach Duncan has already begun the recruitment process with the aim of getting the Trojans back to the NWAC playoffs in 2026. Coach Duncan can be reached at mduncan@everettcc.edu.
