Everett, WA - The Everett Community College Women's Soccer team concluded the 2025 season on Tuesday night after a 3-1 loss to playoff bound Skagit Valley College who finished second in the north region standings. The Trojans gave up an early pair of goals, the second coming off of a great header goal from a corner kick in the 18th minute. After that, the Trojans settled in defensively for the remainder of the half and even generated the majority of the goal scoring opportunities. Two shots (one by Lucy Soriano Sanchez and another by Maleah Kirk) forced the Skagit Keeper to make great saves, and Genesis Molina Escobar hit the top cross bar twice from distance. The halftime score could have easily been 2-2 or even in favor of EvCC, but the Trojans went into the break trailing 0-2.
Everett opened up the second half with more scoring threats that resulted in shots on goal, and another near goal that hit the cross bar, making it three total for the game. The defense continued to play well until a momentary lapse and the only defensive mistake in the entire second half, resulted in Skagit's third goal. As the season looked to be ending in a shut out, Isabella Nguon launched a shot from 35 yards out, that was just saved and deflected out for a corner kick. The corner, taken by Luch Soriano Sanchez, was well placed in front of the box, and in the 88th minute the Trojans broke into the score column when Maki Quiyono Wong got a foot on the ball and put it away for her 5th career goal as a Trojan.
The Trojans finished the season with a 4-10-1 record, but that does not paint the entire picture. The Trojans came up short in seven matches that were decided by two goals or less and the 47 total goals scored ranks 5th most all time in EvCC program history. Sophomore attacking midfielder Chloe Parker ended her career with 14 goals scored, which ranks tied for 6th all time at Everett and fellow sophomore Lucy Soriano Sanchez ended her career with 6 assists, which ties for 10th all time at Everett. Brynn Meno, who played defender last season, transitioned to goalkeeper this season out of necessity and exceeded all expectations in the net. She recorded 71 saves which ranks 5th all time in single season saves for Trojan goalkeeper.
Other sophomores to recognize are Symantha Rangel (3 career goals), Genesis Molina-Escobar (6 career goals, 3 assists), Isabella Nguon (4 career goals, 5 assists from her defensive position), Maki Quiyono Wong (5 career goals 2 assists), Tegan Ramey (26 career games and 19 starts as a defender), and Maleah Kirk (2 career goals, 1 assist primarily playing defender).
Head Coach Nicole Nsa completed her 5th season as head coach, tallying her 22nd win. Everett will look to return a solid core of freshman next season, and build towards an NWAC playoff appearance.
