Bio
Kyra Wendling joins the Everett Community College staff this 2021 season. Prior to Everett Community College, Kyra served as a Graduate Assistant Coach at Hawai'i Pacific University under Coach Reid Takatsuka. While on the staff, the Sharks compiled a 42-16 record, were the Pacific West Conference Champions, made the NCAA tournament, were ranked as high as 25th in the nation, all while having the top scoring offense in the country at the Division 2 level. During that time, the program produced 1 All American, 2 All West Region, 5 All Pacific West Conference players, and 2 Newcomers of the Year.
Before HPU, she coached for the V-Jam Basketball Club, Agoura High School, and was a private trainer in Southern California. During her time coaching in California, she coached 3 All State California players, 8 All Marmonte League and 5 All Ventura County players, 2 ESPN Top 100 players, as well as a handful of players who continued school and basketball at various NCAA and NAIA levels.
Kyra was a JUCO product from Oxnard College in Oxnard, CA where her team holds the record for the most wins in school history. There she was a Scholar Athlete and a Team Captain. She then transferred to Hawai'i Pacific University, where she was again a Scholar Athlete, to finish her collegiate basketball career. She earned her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Communications from HPU.
Wendling, a Southern California native, moved from O'ahu, Hawai'i to Washington where she is also coaching for the Northwest Blazers AAU program. She is also currently getting certified as a personal trainer, strength and conditioning coach, nutritionist, life coach, group fitness trainer, and corrective exercise specialist.
