Everett, WA - Everett women's basketball sent their sophomores out in style Wednesday night, rolling to an emphatic 86-14 victory over Shoreline to close the regular season on a high note.
With the win, Everett finished 5-9 in North Region play, good for fifth place—just one spot shy of qualifying for the NWAC playoffs. While the postseason narrowly slipped away, the Trojans ended the year on a two-game win streak and secured their highest finish in the North Region standings since the 2022 season.
Everett wasted no time asserting control, jumping out to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter and completely shutting down Shoreline in the second, holding the visitors scoreless in a 28-0 frame. By halftime, the Trojans led 45-4 and never looked back.
The defensive effort was relentless all night. Everett forced 41 turnovers, collected 21 steals, and held Shoreline to just 5-of-37 shooting (13.5%) from the field and 2-of-14 (14.3%) from three-point range. The Trojans also dominated the glass, outrebounding Shoreline 50-34.
Sophomore Brynn Meno delivered a career performance in her final game as a Trojan. Meno poured in 23 points on 8-of-17 shooting, including a blistering 6-of-11 from beyond the arc. She provided a steady scoring punch throughout the night and helped stretch the floor as Everett knocked down 16 three-pointers as a team. It was a fitting finale for Meno, who left everything on the floor and walked off a winner.
Fellow sophomore Selena Espinoza also made her final game count. Espinoza finished with 13 points, 11 rebounds, five assists, and seven steals in an all-around performance that showcased her impact across every facet of the game. Her presence on both ends fueled the Trojans' defensive pressure and transition offense, and her leadership was evident as Everett controlled the tempo from start to finish.
The Trojans' depth was on full display:
-
Jasmine Germain added 13 points, hitting three triples.
-
Abigail Porter chipped in 10 points and five assists off the bench.
-
Austyn Davis scored eight points and grabbed seven rebounds.
-
Myah Galdeira contributed nine points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals.
-
Kelsee Hunt dished out six assists to go along with six points.
Everett shot 41.5% from the field (34-of-82) and 36.4% from three-point range (16-of-44), moving the ball beautifully with 27 assists on 34 made field goals.
Though EvCC came up just short of postseason play, finishing one game out of a playoff spot, the growth throughout the season was evident. Closing the year with back-to-back wins and their best North Region finish in four years provides momentum and belief heading into the offseason.
Most importantly, Brynn Meno and Selena Espinoza were able to take the court one final time in Trojan uniforms—and walk away victorious. The foundation is set. The standard is rising.
