Lynnwood, WA - Everett women's hoops completed the season sweep in the T-Trophy rivalry, grinding out a 53-51 road win over Edmonds on Saturday afternoon in Lynnwood. After edging the Tritons 58-56 in overtime back on January 24, the Trojans once again found a way late—this time with a defensive stand in the closing seconds—to claim bragging rights for the second time this season.
The game was a tale of runs. Everett opened slowly, trailing 15-8 after the first quarter, but responded with a dominant second period. The Trojans held Edmonds to just five points in the quarter while putting up 17 of their own to take a 25-20 halftime lead.
Edmonds surged again in the third, outscoring Everett 15-11 to set up a tense fourth quarter. With the rivalry atmosphere turned up and every possession magnified, the Trojans executed down the stretch, finishing off the 53-51 victory.
Everett shot 32.8% from the field (20-61) and knocked down seven three-pointers, while holding Edmonds to just 30.0% shooting (15-50). The Trojans also forced 13 Triton turnovers and limited Edmonds to only five points in the pivotal second quarter—a stretch that ultimately proved decisive.
Myah Galdeira delivered a game-high 22 points on 8-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-11 from beyond the arc. She added four rebounds, three assists, and two steals in a complete 40-minute effort.
Selena Espinoza chipped in 13 points, connecting on three three-pointers, while Kelsee Hunt anchored the interior with a dominant 14-rebound performance (six offensive boards). Hunt added eight points, three assists, and two steals in a full 40-minute outing, helping Everett compete on the glass against an Edmonds team that finished with a slight 32-30 rebounding edge.
Brynn Meno provided a spark off the bench, scoring four points and grabbing two offensive rebounds in 13 minutes.
Edmonds was led by Kiani Hoolulu (15 points) and Hailey Mata (14 points), who combined for six three-pointers. However, Everett's defensive pressure limited the Tritons' overall efficiency, particularly inside the arc. Despite Edmonds shooting 36% from three, the Trojans contested shots effectively and avoided second-chance damage late.
Everett also took care of the basketball when it mattered most, finishing with just 10 turnovers compared to Edmonds' 13. The Trojans' 12 assists on 20 made field goals reflected solid ball movement in a grind-it-out rivalry matchup.
With the win, Everett improves to 9-19 overall and 5-9 in league play, securing the season sweep of their T-Trophy rival and keeping Everett on top 4-3 in the T-Trophy standings after the conclusion of fall and winter sports.
The Trojans will play their final game at home on Wednesday, February 25th against Shoreline CC. The two sophomores Selena Espinoza and Brynn Meno will be recognized for their tireless conributions and dedication to the program.
