Everett, WA — The Everett Community College Trojans delivered one of their grittiest performances of the season Saturday afternoon, edging rival Edmonds 58–56 in an overtime thriller at the Walt Price Fitness Center. In a game that demanded toughness, resilience, and composure, Everett made the plays that mattered most to secure the hard-fought rivalry victory.
Everett endured a challenging start offensively, scoring just seven points in the opening quarter, but never lost belief. Everett settled in during the second quarter and began to apply defensive pressure that would define the rest of the afternoon. That intensity paid dividends in the third, as the Trojans held Edmonds to just seven points and began to shift momentum.
Trailing by four entering the fourth quarter, Everett delivered its best regulation stretch of the game. The Trojans outscored the Tritons 17–14 in the final period, forcing overtime in front of an energized home crowd. In the extra session, Everett stayed poised, executing on both ends of the floor and edging Edmonds 10–8 to seal the win.
Sophomore guard Myah Galdeira turned in a standout performance, leading all scorers with 23 points while logging 45 minutes on the floor. Galdeira knocked down three shots from beyond the arc and was nearly perfect at the free throw line, converting eight of nine attempts. Her ability to attack late and make timely plays proved decisive. Jordan Hentel provided a major boost off the bench, pouring in 14 points and grabbing six rebounds while playing extended minutes and supplying energy on both ends.
Everett also leaned heavily on its defensive leaders. Kelsee Hunt was everywhere defensively, finishing with six steals to go along with five assists and six rebounds, consistently disrupting Edmonds' rhythm. Selena Espinoza added 10 points and seven rebounds, including a pair of three-pointers that helped keep the Trojans within striking distance during key moments.
As a team, Everett forced 23 Edmonds turnovers and turned them into scoring opportunities, a critical factor in overcoming shooting struggles. The Trojans finished with 12 steals and held Edmonds to just eight points in overtime and the third quarter combined. Everett also capitalized at the free throw line when it mattered, knocking down 13 of 19 attempts on the afternoon.
Despite Edmonds holding an edge on the glass, Everett's collective effort, defensive pressure, and clutch execution carried the day. The Trojans shot 31.3 percent from the field, connected on five three-pointers, and recorded 15 assists in the win.
Everett will set their sites on Shoreline for a road match up next Wednesday. Tip off is scheduled for 7:00pm.
