Tacoma, WA - On Thursday afternoon Trojan basketball squared off against Tacoma CC for the third time this season, this one ending in a thrilling 63-60 win for EvCC to complete a 3-0 sweep over the Titans.
Everett's defense struggled to get stops in the first quarter and allowed 18 points in the first frame on 43% shooting from the floor while only putting up 12 of their own. EvCC shot a better percentage than Tacoma, but 6 turnovers and four three pointers from TCC helped the Titans get out to a six point lead. Everett's offense continued to struggle in the 2nd quarter and got outscored by four, growing the deficit to 10 by halftime.
The Trojans shot just 1-11 from behind the arc in the third quarter but still managed to to keep pace with Tacoma who scored 19 points. Everett scored 18, 3rd quarter points lifted by Selena Espinoza's 7 and Jordan Hentel's 6. Still TCC was able to extend their lead to 11 heading into the 4th quarter.
The final quarter was owned by Kaila Oudom who scored 14 points on 4 of 5 shooting from beyond the arc. Everett fought back, and with the game tied at 60 with two seconds remaining, Kaila Oudom burried her 6th three of the game, putting Everett ahead for the first time since midway through the first quarter.
Oudom finished with a season high 25 points and shot 9 of 17 from the floor. She also had 5 assists and 5 rebounds. Selena Espinoza also had a big game, playing all 40 minutes and scoring 15 points. Jordan Hentel was the other Trojan to score in double figures, finishing with 12 points, 7 rebounds, and 5 assists. All seven Trojans that registered minutes, got into the scorebook with points.
The Trojans will have 11 days off before their game at Highline College on December 19th. That tip off will be at 5:00pm.
