Everett Battles Hard, but Falls to Edmonds 79-53

EVERETT, WA – The Everett Community College Trojans put up a strong fight early, going toe-to-toe with the Edmonds Tritons in the first half, but a tough third quarter proved costly as they fell 79-53 on February 10.

Despite the final score, Everett had some standout performances, particularly from Alaina Spoonhunter (22 points, 11 rebounds) and Jada Andresen (21 points, 12 rebounds), both of whom recorded double-doubles. The Trojans played tough defense and showed resilience, especially in the first half, but Edmonds' hot shooting in the second half proved to be the difference.

First Quarter: Strong Start for Both Teams (Tied 19-19)

Everett came out with energy and executed well offensively, matching Edmonds shot for shot in an exciting first quarter.

Jada Andresen was on fire, scoring 15 of the Trojans' 19 points, including three three-pointers, while also grabbing four rebounds. Spoonhunter controlled the glass with four rebounds of her own and added 4 points. Everett's defense forced several tough shots from Edmonds, but the Tritons' Kayanna Jackson (11 first-quarter points) kept the game even.

Second Quarter: Defense Takes Over, Everett Trails 30-24 at Halftime

The second quarter turned into a defensive battle, with both teams struggling to find consistent offense.

Everett's defense stepped up, limiting Edmonds to just 27.8% shooting while forcing multiple tough shots. Saydee Heslop provided an inside presence for Edmonds with 6 points and 7 rebounds, but the Trojans held Jackson to just 2 points in the quarter.

On the other end, Everett had trouble converting shots, scoring just 5 points in the period. Andresen, who had been red-hot in the first, cooled off under increased defensive pressure. Third Quarter: Edmonds Takes Control (Edmonds 54, Everett 34)

After a competitive first half, Edmonds made a big push in the third quarter, using a 24-10 run to take command.

Everett worked hard to stay in the game, but Edmonds' hot shooting and aggressive rebounding made a difference. The Tritons' fast-break opportunities led to easy baskets, and Jackson reasserted herself as a scoring threat.

Despite the rough quarter, Spoonhunter and Andresen continued to battle inside, grabbing key rebounds and looking for scoring chances. The Trojans played with effort and intensity, but Edmonds' efficiency proved difficult to match.

By the end of the third, Everett found itself trailing 54-34, needing a big fourth quarter to mount a comeback.

Fourth Quarter: Trojans Fight to the End (Final Score: 79-53)

Everett showed resilience in the final frame, continuing to compete despite the deficit. Spoonhunter attacked the basket and got to the free-throw line, while Andresen knocked down shots from the perimeter.

The Trojans also saw contributions from Ruby Wacker and Eden Moore, who helped keep the offensive flow moving. Everett showed flashes of strong play but couldn't overcome the hot shooting from Edmonds down the stretch.

Ultimately, the Trojans fell 79-53, but the final score didn't reflect their early effort and fight.
