Everett, WA - The Everett Community College Trojans came into Wednesday night's T-Trophy rivalry match determined to protect their home turf—and they did so in emphatic fashion, rolling to a 4–0 shutout victory over Edmonds College at Everett Memorial Stadium.
From the opening whistle, the Trojans dictated the tempo, creating early chances through a string of corner kicks and testing Edmonds keeper Jack Neumeyer with shots from Iker Meza, Abdala Hassani, and Alhagie Ceesay. Their pressure finally paid off in the 29th minute, when Hassani buried a penalty kick to put Everett ahead 1–0.
After carrying that lead into halftime, the Trojans came out of the break with even more fire. Just 15 minutes into the second half, Ceesay doubled the advantage with a composed penalty finish of his own. Barely two minutes later, he struck again, finishing off a cross from Meza to make it 3–0. The sophomore forward wasn't done—Ceesay completed his second-half hat trick in the 69th minute, a clinical strike that sealed the rivalry win for good.
While Everett's attack put on a show, the back line and goalkeeper Eduardo Gonzalez deserve equal credit. The Trojans defense held firm all match, limiting Edmonds to just a handful of looks and keeping the Tritons from finding any momentum. Gonzalez recorded the clean sheet, calmly commanding his box whenever Edmonds threatened.
With the win, Everett improves to 3–3 overall and 2–2 in conference play, while Edmonds continues to search for their first victory at 0–7 (0–4 NWAC). Equally importantly, the Trojans earn a point towards the T-Trophy rivalry standings.
Everett will get the weekend off and some much needed time to recover and heal. Their next match will be a pivotal game in the standings against Skagit Valley on the road. Kick off is set for Wednesday, October 1st at 5:00pm in Mount Vernon.
