Shoreline, WA - The Everett Community College men's soccer team secured a 2–0 road victory over Shoreline Community College on Saturday behind a balanced performance that featured early scoring and a steady defensive effort.
Everett wasted no time getting on the board, striking in just the fourth minute when Cody Duncan converted off a setup from Abdala Hassani to put the Trojans up 1–0. From there, the visitors controlled much of the play, outshooting Shoreline 11–5 over the course of the match.
The insurance goal came late in the second half when defender Lucas Siemering sent what initially looked to be a cross from near the right corner flag, but the Shoreline keeper's deflection saw the ball bounce off the post and into the back of the net in the 79th minute. That turned out to be the back breaker for Shoreline and the Dolphins would not be able to answer at all in the final ten minutes.
On the defensive side, Eduardo Gonzalez was sharp in goal for Everett, recording three saves to preserve the clean sheet. Shoreline worked hard to create opportunities, with three shots on target and several challenges that kept the Trojan defense busy, but ultimately could not find the breakthrough.
With the win, Everett rebuild's momentum heading into the T-Trophy Rivalry match up against Edmonds College. That game is set for 7:30pm on Wednesday September 24th at Everett Memorial Stadium.
