In the third and final regular season match between the two schools, Edmonds was able to take three points from EvCC by a final score of 1-0. The Trojans defeated the Tritons on two earlier occasions this season, and were going for their second straight year of sweeping their rivals.
The first half was evenly played, with a slight edge to EvCC with possession and offensive pressure. Everett tallied 9 shots, 4 on target and all 4 saved by the Edmonds goal keeper. Edmonds got off 6 shots, and only one on target until the final moments of the first half when an Edmonds corner kick was sent into the box, and a controversial header by Hector Palomera coming through the body and arms of Everett goalkeeper found the back of the net. After a brief consult with the assistant referee, the goal was awarded to end the half.
The 2nd half was completely dominated by EvCC with 8 shots to Edmonds 0. However none of the shots were able to get home and the Tritons escaped with the 1-0 win.
With the loss Everett falls to 8 points back out of second place, however this week presents a great opportunity to make up ground. They go on the road to face 2nd place Peninsula on Wednesday, and are at 1st place Whatcom on Saturday.
