Spokane, WA - Men's basketball traveled to Spokane for the annual Sasquatch Classic and came away with two big wins over east region opponents Yakima Valley and Treasure Valley.
On the opening night the Trojans picked up their first win of the season, defeating Yakima 73-70. The Trojans entered the contest 0-5, after a gauntlet of a schedule to open the 2025-2026 season. Neither team gained a distinct edge in the first half with ten lead changes. Yakima held only a one point advantage to close out the half despite shooting nearly 60% from the floor.
The Yaks built their lead to as many as 10 early in the second half, but the Trojans did not quit, getting a big 16-point second half performance from freshman Bubba Palacol. Everett took their first lead of the half with 3:42 remaining on a Darius Turner three (his second of the game). Down the stretch Everett was able to knock down free throws and play solid defense to hold off Yakima 73-70.
Bubba Palacol finished the game with 24 points and led all scorers. Turner scored 12 points off the bench and brought down 6 rebounds.
On day two of the tournament, the Trojans faced off against Treasure Valley, a team that put up 70 second half points en route to a 107-88 win over Linn-Benton the night before. The Trojan defense held the Chukars to 31 first half points, while putting up 36 of their own.
Bubba Palacol led the team with 11 first half points, and Noah Parker added 8. Everett led by as many as 12 in the second half, punishing TVCC on the boards with 14 offensive rebounds. Treasure battled back to tie the game at 61, but once again, the Trojans executed down the stretch and got stops when they needed to, preserving their second straight win, 71-67.
Bubba Palacol scored a new season high in points with 27, and Darius Turner got his first double double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds. The other Trojan to score in double figures with Noah Parker who scored 14 and added 8 rebounds.
On the final day Everett faced off against hosts Spokane, a team they lost to earlier in the season 93-79. Spokane, had since won four straight dating back to the win over Everett and had been averaging 93 points per game. EvCC got off to a hot start and after a Kyler Hadfield bucket, led 9-2. But Spokane found their rhythm and led by 11 at half.
Everett could not quite crack the 10-point cushion through the second half, and Spokane pulled away to win 89-70. Bubba Palacol had his second straight 20+ game point performance, with 21 on 7 of 16 shooting. Noah Parker had another solid game with 14 points and Kobe Allen scored 10 off the bench.
The Trojans will return to Everett, and host a north region crossover tournament next weekend. After eight straight road games, EvCC will get their first set of home games, December 12-14 starting with Tacoma on Friday night. The Titans are 2-2, having played all north region teams to date. Wins over Shoreline and Olympic, and recent losses to Bellevue and Skagit Valley.
