Micah Coleman Named NATYCAA Scholar Athlete Finalist
NATYCAA (National Alliance of Two-Year College Athletic Administrators) has announced the 2026 Scholar Athlete Team, 18 individuals comprised of one male and one female from nine geographic districts representing the national organization. The nine individuals for each gender will be the finalists for the Male/Female Scholar Athlete of the Year, awarded annually at the NACDA & Affiliates National Convention. This year's convention will be June 7-10 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Everett Community College alumnus Micah Coleman is the lone male representative from the Northwest Athletic Conference.
Micah graduated with honors in Spring 2025 with his Associate in Arts and Sciences degree while majoring in journalism, earning a scholarship to continue both his academic and baseball career at NCAA Division I University of South Carolina Upstate. At Everett, he achieved a 3.90 GPA, earned five academic honor roll selections, and twice made the President's List with a perfect 4.0 term GPA. His academic performance reflects not only intelligence and discipline, but a deep commitment to personal growth and excellence.
On the field, Micah was a driving force behind the program's success, helping lead Everett to back-to-back North Region Championships (2024 & 2025). He finished his EvCC career at or near the top of multiple program statistical categories, including:
- 10th in career RBIs
- 9th in career batting average
- 8th in career hits
- 6th in career runs scored
- 6th in career stolen bases
- 2nd in career walks drawn
- He also tied the single-season hits record with 66
Micah's excellence was recognized across the conference and beyond. His honors include:
- ABCA/Rawlings Pacific Association Third Team All-American
- First Team All-NWAC
- NWAC North Region Position Player of the Year
- NWAC North Region First Team
- NWAC North Region Gold Glove Award
- He was also named Everett Community College Male Student-Athlete of the Year
This is the third time since the award began in 1992 that an Everett Community College athlete has been named as a finalist for the national award. In 2024 Women's Track & Field and Volleyball athlete Denna Gibb was a finalist and in 2020 Women's Soccer player Olivia Lee was also a finalist. If selected, Micah would be the first athlete in the NWAC (male or female) to be named NATYCAA Scholar Athlete of the Year.
