Maddie German, Female Athlete of the Year
Our softball athlete of the year and EvCC female athlete of the year is Maddie German. Maddie is a redshirt sophomore that joined the program in the shortened 2021 season due to COVID, and has developed into one of the top players in the NWAC from the catcher's position. Her batting average has gone from .254 in that first season, to .347 last season, and finishing the 2023 season with a .439 average. In 123 at bats this season, Maddie had 54 hits, 12 doubles, 2 triples, 14 home runs (four of which were grand slams), 63 RBI’s, and a team high 12 stolen bases. She was as solid as they come behind the plate, catching all 35 games and throwing out 7 would be base stealers. She finished her career at EvCC as having played the most games in program history with 97, 85 career runs is the 4th most all time, 103 career hits is the 5th most, 20 career home runs is tied for 3rd most, and 14 home runs in a single season is tied for 2nd most. Her 99 career RBI’s rank 2nd at EvCC as does her single season RBI mark of 63 and her career stolen base mark of 22. Maddie was named the North Region’s most valuable player, and has made the academic honor roll four times, two quarters on the president’ list with a 4.0 GPA. Maddie is finishing up her degree in Fire Science, and is the first in the history of the Softball program to complete this demanding program at EvCC.
