The Trojan's defeated NWAC powerhouse and North region leader Peninsula College in dramatic fasion on Wednesday. After falling behind 1-0 within the first three minutes of the match, EvCC capitalized on a PK to draw the game even at 1-1.
The match would continue at a blazing pace until half, with neither team able to take an advantage. It wasn't until the 73rd minute when Aaron Byrne was able to find the back of the net after a beautiful pass from Oscar Rodriguez to put the Trojans up 2-1. Freshman goalkeeper Gabriel Acosta was spectacular coming up with two huge saves in the closing minutes to preserve the victory. He would finish the match with 7 total saves.
The backline was impressive for nearly the entire match keeping the high powered Pirate offense at bay clearing several opportunities from free kicks or corners.
Trojans look to take complete control over the North region standings when they face Whatcom on Saturday.
